Two Worlds: I studied at Hogwarts
#117 - Magical Perception Training
Because Mune's detention for cleaning the Potions classroom hadn't ended yet.
So, no one would suspect anything when coming to the Potions classroom in the basement every afternoon.
This gave Mune the opportunity to use the tools in the Potions classroom to complete his own experiments.
When Mune walked into the classroom in the afternoon, Cedric was tidying up the potions he had just finished studying.
"Snape left quite a while ago. Wait for me a moment; I'll be done soon."
Cedric finished cleaning all the potion-making tools as he spoke.
"You actually found so much Sneezewort!"
"That's right, there's a lot of this stuff in the greenhouses where the third years have classes. I didn't even know it could be used to make Separation Potion until you told me."
Cedric was currently making the Sneezewort Separation Potion that Mune had explained to him yesterday.
The [Potion Analysis Technique] described this potion as being able to absorb some metal-type impurities.
And purifying Sleeping Death Fungus spores happened to require it.
Making Sneezewort Separation Potion was actually very simple.
Just cut off all the slender leaves of the Sneezewort and wash them thoroughly.
Then, squeeze the rhizomes to extract the juice inside, and heat it in a cauldron to remove excess water.
"Take a look, is this what the finished product should look like?"
In less than half an hour, Cedric had already made a whole bottle of transparent, viscous liquid.
"The color and shape are the same as recorded in the book, so it should be fine."
After receiving Mune's affirmative answer, Cedric instantly felt much relieved.
Although it was relatively easy for him to obtain these Sneezeworts, there weren't many opportunities to practice in the Potions classroom, so he unconsciously sped up the process.
"Next, do we just put this potion and the spores into the cauldron and heat them for purification?"
"That's right, remember the ratio of spores to Sneezewort potion is 1:2."
"Okay."
Cedric's experience in brewing potions was obviously much richer than Mune's, and he operated the entire set of potion-making tools very quickly.
After seeing that the spores and Separation Potion had been correctly added to the cauldron, Mune also prepared to begin his first magical perception training.
"Stir it constantly until all the moisture has completely evaporated, and then filter it through a sieve."
Mune reminded him again.
"Don't worry, you can go ahead and do your own thing."
Cedric also noticed Mune's actions at another operating table, so he gave Mune a reassuring look.
Watching Cedric's skillful movements, Mune picked up a set of potion-making tools: a pewter cauldron, a brass balance, a special alcohol lamp, and a glass beaker.
These few tools were perfect for a simple magical perception training method.
Place the cauldron and the glass beaker filled with water on either side of the brass balance, ensuring that the brass balance is level.
Then, continuously heat the cauldron with the alcohol lamp, and as the water inside evaporates, the glass beaker on the other side will slowly sink.
And what Mune needed to do was to use the [Levitation Charm] to keep the weight of the glass beaker in balance with the cauldron on the other side at all times.
Of course, this process was not simple, and deviations were common.
And in order to ensure the training effect, Mune also needed to keep an eye on the precise scale on the brass balance to ensure that his practice was effective.
"Are you sure it's okay to do this?"
Watching Mune panting heavily and the glass beaker slipping off the brass balance several times, Cedric, who only needed to stir constantly, asked with concern.
"Should be ~ okay!"
Mune once again used the Levitation Charm to prevent the glass beaker from falling to the ground.
"Okay, although I don't know what you're doing, you must be careful."
"I will."
After Mune finished speaking, he added water to the beaker and cauldron again.
He had already conducted five training sessions just now. Although each time wasn't very long, the scale swing of the brass balance was gradually decreasing.
This let Mune know that his magical perception training was developing in a positive direction.
"Wingardium Leviosa."
As the alcohol lamp burned quickly, Mune had to continuously and steadily maintain the [Levitation Charm].
The scale on the brass balance had gone from swinging five or six grids at the beginning to only swinging three or four grids now.
When Mune was conducting his sixth training session, the moisture in Cedric's cauldron had completely evaporated.
The impurities in the Sleeping Death Fungus spores had also congealed into large granular substances.
Next, what Cedric needed to do was to filter out the purified spores through a sieve.
Throughout the entire purification process, both Mune and Cedric wore thickened masks.
They both knew that the toxicity of the spores was now getting stronger and stronger, so they needed to be more careful.
And it was at this moment that Snape actually returned to the Potions classroom.
"Hmph! I knew it, you....
As soon as Snape stepped into the Potions classroom, before he could finish a sentence, he immediately noticed something was wrong.
He hurriedly lifted his sleeves to cover his mouth and nose, then quickly went to the medicine cabinet, took out a bottle of brown potion, and poured it directly into his mouth.
After completing these actions, he immediately took out a thickened mask and put it on his face.
"Cedric Diggory! Take your poisonous powder and leave here!"
Snape had never been so distraught as he was today.
Although he didn't know what potion he had drunk to neutralize the toxicity of the spores, his face was still very ugly.
"Okay, Professor, I'll do it right away."
Cedric's purification work was already at the final step. When Snape shouted, he was putting the spores into a clean glass bottle.
After seeing Snape come in, Mune immediately took the beaker and cauldron off the brass balance.
While Cedric was tidying up, Mune was also "pretending" to clean.
"Professor, then I'll leave first."
After carefully cleaning all the purification tools, Cedric put the bottle of spores into his pocket and looked at Snape.
"Professor, I've also finished cleaning and I'm about to leave."
Mune was about to leave the Potions classroom with Cedric, but Snape suddenly stretched out his wand and blocked his path.
"Mune Scarlett, don't you think you should give an explanation for what just happened!"
"Professor, Mune, he.....
、
Cedric was about to cover for Mune, but Snape immediately glared fiercely at him.
"Diggory! My patience is not great, or do you think I would eat a little silly lion?"
Cedric had been nurtured by Snape's Potions class for three years, so he knew that since Snape said this, there wouldn't be too much punishment.
"I'll wait for you outside."
After giving Mune a firm look, Cedric left.
Finally, only Snape and Mune were left in the empty Potions classroom.
