Chapter 285: Balance lies in all things (end of this volume)

At No. 17 Queen Mary Street, Shade and the doctor carried their suitcases and walked up the stairs to the second floor. He suddenly laughed:

"Doctor, judging from what we just did, we look like standard bad guys."

"Good people and bad people are relative terms."

The doctor said that instead of going to the first floor, the two entered the corridor on the second floor and walked along the corridor.

"How to say?"

"No one is completely good or bad. A person can do good things and bad things, as long as he has a good balance."

The doctor said, coming to the innermost room with Shade. Kicking open the door, the two of them came to the window. Outside was a safe alley.

"Balance...Speaking of which, I've always been curious about whether the name of our school, St. Balance, has any profound meaning."

Shade asked.

He pushed open the window and stuck his head out to confirm that no one was in the alley. People on the street were rushing to put out the fire and pick up money, so he took off his mask, threw away the frog legs, and jumped directly from the second-floor window into the alley.

He took off his gloves and shoe covers and stuffed them into his pockets. The middle-aged doctor followed closely with his suitcase and jumped from the second floor window. He explained in a calm tone that he was in a good mood now:

"The name of St. Byrons itself has the meaning of balance. Miracles are opposite to blasphemy; enlightenment is opposite to whispers; the ring itself is a standard circle; the ring wizard itself has another self behind it. St. Byrons I believe that the foundation of the Ring Warlock system lies in balance. Only by maintaining balance can you continue to advance without losing control."

He stamped his right foot, which was numb from landing, and after arranging each other's clothes with Shade, he walked toward the alley with his suitcase.

The middle-aged doctor spoke in a leisurely tone:

"Xia De, the more you live in this city, the more you will understand the value of balance. This world does not need extremes. Where there is light there is darkness, where there is good there is evil. Even civilization and the country itself need stability. and balance, not extremes of good or extreme evil.”

They came to the alley side by side, and people in the whole street seemed to be screaming. Black smoke billowed from the third floor of the single-family apartment, and the flames bursting out of the window dyed half of the sky red.

The two of them looked up at the burning window. The flames were quickly rushing from the third floor to the second floor, but no one paid attention to them walking out of the alley carrying suitcases.

Shade thought of the short time he had experienced in this world, and the story he experienced from the first ring to the second ring:

"We kill and set fire, but we also protect the weak. We kill and commit crime, but we always remember to remain in awe."

"That's pretty much what it means."

The doctor nodded and turned around to leave with Shade.

The wind blew through the streets, making the fires burn even more fiercely. More and more people ran past them, and the strong wind also caused the remaining droplets of blood-red poisonous liquid on the windowsill on the third floor to drip from the window.

It fell in the wind and tilted due to the strong wind.

"Um?"

Shade felt something fall on his head. He touched it and found that it was just water.

Passing by running people, they passed through the shouting, screaming or simply watching crowds, turned their backs to the burning building, and walked toward the distance along the street.

"Even the night before yesterday, wasn't there a balance between gods and gods? The main responsibilities of the good gods are balanced with each other. When the evil gods come to this world, there must be good forces to stop them. It may be a mortal, or it may be other gods, But it’s all a balance.”

Shade paused and asked the doctor:

"So, you're saying that the truth of the world is balance?"

"It's not accurate. It should be said that there is no need to pursue balance. Everything in this world is balance."

The doctor smiled.

"No need to pursue it?"

Shade frowned slightly:

"I don't understand."

"You are too young, too young."

The doctor sighed and shook his head at Shade:

"You still have a long life to understand what I say. It is a waste of your life to explore in vain what is good and what is bad, what is light and what is dark."

"Then how should we balance myself?"

Xia De asked for advice, and the middle-aged doctor smiled:

"I have experience with this. I often tell my patients this: before going to bed every night, review what you have done during the day. If you can relax and sleep after reviewing, then you will be able to maintain balance."

The young stranger nodded.

There was another violent explosion of wood exploding behind them. Beside the two people walking further along the street, people came to help with basins and buckets, or ran away quickly with frightened faces. Only two people walked away. People move forward at a normal speed.

Flames rushed out from the windows of the three-story building, and black smoke and firelight dyed the sky in Tobesk red. On the street below the building, people clutching banknotes were talking about what had just happened, a disheveled woman was crying, and people arriving with basins of water were nervous and didn't know whether they should enter the house.

The firelight dyed every face red.

With his back to the burning building, the advancing doctor raised his hand to press his hat, and the firelight reflected his back. Shade turned around to look at the burning building, the fire reflected in his eyes:

[The Sixth Age, Universal Calendar 1853, Summer, Thunder Moon. The firelight turned your face red, and under the midsummer sky, you witnessed everything you had done. You also offered your eyes to the golden scales, and you also judged the gods who held a blood feast under the moon. The chosen one is your partner, and the girl who bears everything stands beside you. The golden scales are balanced by your weight, and in your eyes, you see the whole world. Foreigner, you who have mastered the balance, do you long for the current story? Foreigners, are you looking forward to a vast epic? 】

The doctor stepped forward, lowered his head and held down his hat. There was a smile on his face hidden under the hat.

Police squads with sirens playing were parked on the streets, shouting to maintain order, their faces full of anxiety.

People on the street stood in the light of the fire, the greedy ones lowered their heads to pick up banknotes, the helpless ones looked up at the buildings, and the brave ones waved their arms to indicate safety.

The city hall carriage carrying water rushed from the distant blocks, and further away, more and more people were gathering.

Black smoke burst out from the third-floor window, leaping out of the simmering flames, leaving traces of winding upwards under the gloomy sky, reaching higher and higher.

Shade raised his left foot, held the suitcase in his right hand, and turned to look behind him.

Firelight flickered in his eyes, figures swayed around him, noisy noises reached his ears, and the smell of burning poured into his nose.

There was a muffled roar above the head, the rising heat entered the clouds, the water vapor condensed, and the thunder made a muffled sound in the clouds.

The city is on fire, it’s going to rain.

In Tobesk on Saturday, densely packed people were moving like little ants in this steamy city. Outsiders, ring warlocks, gods, cultists, fires... all these have not affected the stability and balance of the city.

He had gone through so much, but this world, this city, was still the same as the day he arrived. Here is still the pearl of the north, the foggy city of Tobesk.

Shade stood under the vast sky in the huge steam city, listening to the soft laughter of the woman in his ears, and suddenly felt that he understood something.

With his back turned to the burning building and the people gathered together, he followed the doctor and merged into the bustling crowd.

"So, balance lies in everything?"

In the pocket, [Origin·Balance] Rhodes card shimmers. The huge dark golden scale flashed past behind Shade, but no one saw this scene.

[Outlander, you have gained new strength. 】
