Apocalyptic starship

Chapter 507: Mechanical Insects

At night, the sky is full of stars.

There is a shabby little gas station on the dark ground. The old signboard sways in the wind, the broken curtains and the windows without glass make everything look like a haunted house.

There is a tractor truck head in the gas station, and the headlights flicker a few times.

Suddenly, there is a buzzing sound like a bee flying, and a large number of small insects fly out of the engine grille in front of the truck head. Those are not ordinary insects. If you look closely, their eyes are glowing red, and they are full of metallic breath. Hundreds of insect robots similar to small seven-spot ladybugs fly towards the seventh district like a black cloud.

This is the method that the magic cube has found after thinking for a long time. It is to create insect robots as spies to collect intelligence. Sometimes, not only the bigger the better, but also the smaller the size can exert super powers.

In the dark, a large group of mechanical insects flew straight to the ground buildings in the seventh district.

There are not many buildings on the ground in the seventh district. Apart from the airport, there are only a few hangars. Most of the other equipment is built deep underground. The underground can not only resist strong attacks, but also prevent some internal information from being transmitted through the thick soil to shield the signal. There are not many lights in the seventh district at night, but there are more night vision surveillance cameras. This thing is OK for detecting large animals, but mechanical insects can't really attract the attention of those surveillance cameras.

In a simple guard room at the gate of the airport, two soldiers are eating donuts.

"There are more and more insects recently. If I were outside, I would definitely go crazy. This grunt... donuts taste really good."

A soldier threw his gun aside and stuffed a donut into his mouth. After the end of the world, he can still eat this, which shows that the food in the seventh district is really good. As for the guard room, it is purely used to stop those idle survivors. It is not very useful for the entire seventh district. For the same reason, duty here is also a good job. It's great to eat every day without doing anything.

The mechanical insects spread out and flew towards some facilities in the wasteland in a covering manner.

"Did you hear any sound? It seems like... a group of bees flying by."

"Dude, there are no bees, they are all mosquitoes. When you take off your pants to go to the toilet, you will find that your butt is full of bumps, itchy and red, it's really uncomfortable."

After hearing this, the other soldier quickly touched his butt. Fortunately, there were no mosquitoes, but... what does this guy mean by mentioning butt? Is he hinting at me? Thinking of this, the soldier looked at the accomplice who was eating donuts cautiously, his eyes full of meaning.

"Puff... Oh! Fu*k! What does your damn eyes mean! If you look at me like that again, I will kill you, you bastard!"

The soldier eating donuts spit out a mouthful of food and roared angrily. One hand had already touched the assault rifle. If he looked at it again, the soldier swore that he would definitely kill this psychopath.

"Just a look, nothing."

The soldier pouted and dozed off on the chair.

The Rubik's Cube was not interested in the two neurotic soldiers. After inspecting the entire ground facility, the mechanical insects found many entrances that humans would never think of, such as ventilation ducts. The ventilation ducts were only as thick as an arm, and there were grilles inside to prevent debris from falling. It could be said that these ventilation ducts connected all the rooms underground. There was no place more convenient to reach than here.

I saw a large number of mechanical insects gathered on those thin ventilation ducts. They drilled into the ducts, folded their wings and retracted their mechanical legs to become small smooth metal beads...

Huahuahua...

It was as if someone threw a handful of sand into the ventilation ducts. The densely packed small metal beads fell through the gaps in the grilles and continued to roll down through the complex air device. Soon they came to the inside of the ventilation duct system. The metal beads that stopped rolling opened their wings and stretched out their mechanical legs. After determining the direction, they scattered along the ventilation ducts.

In the corridors, restaurants, dormitories, and warehouses, many places crawled out small mechanical insects, silently inspected each room and drew a three-dimensional 3D map. No one and no equipment would be interested in the little bugs. The details of the underground in the seventh zone in the Rubik's Cube Spark Computer gradually appeared.

Suddenly, a picture sent back by a mechanical insect caught the attention of the Rubik's Cube.

"This is... the engine of my reconnaissance plane? The fragments are scattered all over the world."

The object placed in a room is exactly the reconnaissance plane engine that crashed when the Cube came to Earth, but the researchers in the seventh district have not mastered the technology of this engine. The label states that the object is too technologically advanced to understand the principle. It is suspected that the object has nothing to do with the octopus alien creatures and is very likely to be another product of a more high-tech civilization.

The engine is well preserved. The researchers did not dismantle it randomly because they did not understand it. Even if they dismantled it, it would not make much sense. If they did, they would destroy this thing that might be a high-tech engine.

The Cube did not want to let them study his things here. The mechanical insect quietly landed on a part of the engine and drilled into it through the small hole.

The researchers of the Eagle Empire did not know that there was actually a lot of energy left in this engine, and the internal computer was also well preserved. The mechanical insect that drilled in was connected to the computer. The Cube quickly changed the engine and set the self-destruction program. The power of the self-destruction of a reconnaissance plane engine was enough to collapse and bury the entire underground...

Other mechanical insects continued to search.

Soon, a sealed room was discovered in a well-protected place. In the end, the mechanical insects got into the sealed room through the sewer gaps.

The air in the room is different from that outside. It is not mainly composed of oxygen, but more of a mixed gas that is extremely harmful to humans. This surprised Rubik's Cube. At this moment, the door opened and three people walked in. There were humans holding oxygen bottles and wearing airtight chemical protective suits, while mechanical insects hovered lightly on the roof and stared at the three people.

Two of the three people looked like guards, holding firearms, and the other looked like a scientific researcher, holding an iron plate in his hand. There was something airtightly packaged on the plate. The Rubik's Cube was very curious. What on earth does it need to look like this? Bringing food in, could it be an alien octopus creature?

Two guards walked to both sides of the room and clicked a few times on the wall computer. A transparent sealing device in the middle of the room opened, and the mechanical insect saw a living octopus alien creature.

The alien creature was very weak. The researchers turned on the camera equipment on the chest and began to feed the alien creature. The Rubik's Cube had no interest in the octopus creature. The mechanical insect turned around and flew out, making a faint sound as it passed by the two guards. This alarmed the two of them. How could flies and mosquitoes appear in such a completely sealed place with poisonous air? I listened carefully, but I didn't hear anything. Could it be an illusion? Why do two people hallucinate at the same time?
